Dr Geoff Goss is an Associate Professor of Nonlinear Dynamics. He lectures on Dynamics, from BEng first year to MSc, and on Strength of Materials final year undergraduate on the MEng/BEng (hons) Mechanical Engineering. He has previously taught Engineering Mathematics and in subject areas relating to prosthetics.
His research centres on the analysis of large deformations of long slender structures; see his Google Scholar: He is currently researching the mechanics of mammal whiskers. He also has publications with historical themes and continues to work in that field, and is well versed in rod theory, nonlinear mechanics and the history of technology.
