Onur Ozkaya (British-Turkish, 1982) started experimenting with complex manufacturing techniques and tools as an architecture student. His research, practice and academic work have been focusing on geometry, materials and complex systems to explore intelligent design solutions in our built environment. He completed his graduate degree at the Architectural Association, London after studying Architecture and Environmental Design in Turkey.
He worked at Foster + Partners, London from 2007 to 2009, part of Specialist Modelling Group mainly specialising in developing advanced prototyping and manufacturing solutions on various projects. Since then, he worked across a wide range of disciplines, developing many consumer products from furniture to various architectural commissions.
Onur is currently senior lecturer in architecture at London South Bank University, contributing to both BA (Hons) Architecture as a studio tutor and the Msc degree on Digital Architecture and Robotic Construction.
He has also been actively teaching at several institutions in U.K. in the field of architecture and design, such as London Metropolitan University (The CASS), University of Brighton, Anglia Ruskin (Cambridge), University of Arts London and Architectural Association, London.
Onur Ozkaya’s academic and speculative design research has received many international awards, has been published and exhibited worldwide such as Tokyo, Athens, London, Istanbul, Milan and Seoul.
Onur Ozkaya has been engaging with both academic and industrial affiliations in the field of architecture and design.
