Washad gained his first degree in 2004 (with a merit-based scholarship) from the University of Technology, Mauritius in Public Administration and Management followed by an internship as a Public Executive officer for a Government department. In 2007, he was awarded a distinction in his MSc International Finance and Information Management at LSBU where he demonstrated substantial potential in research. This spurred him on to successfully apply for a fully paid scholarship in 2008 to do his PhD in Behavioural Economics which he completed in 2012.    
The common thread running through Washad’s scholarly activities is a unique interest in Behavioural Economics researching the impact of investors’ behaviours and psychology on the financial market and pricing mechanism. This was the core aspect of Washad’s PhD, “Contributions to Evidence, Analysis and Models of Irrational Behaviour in the Financial Market”.

Since being appointed as a Lecturer in Quantitative Studies at LSBU in 2012, Washad has taught and mentored students and colleagues; actively contributed to university life through service on committees and furthered his field through professional collaborations and engagement.

In 2015, Washad became a Senior Fellow of Higher Education which recognises innovative assessment and teaching methods. Washad’s teaching experience was in the areas of Macroeconomics, Quantitative Business and Finance and Project Management and Research. He is also a qualified PRINCE2® Practitioner and uses his experience and research in his teaching.

Washad has served on multiple committees such as course validations, course boards, exams boards, open days and enterprise strategies. Washad successfully led the process and application for the Business School to acquire the prestigious Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) Centre of Excellence that recognises the Business School’s commitment to Enterprise Education and local businesses. In 2017, Washad took over the role of Lead for Student Experience and Business Solution Centre to develop strategies to enhance students’ enterprise and embedding enterprise in the curriculum.

Washad is a trained life coach and provide workshops on coaching to students in order to equip students with the required skills that will help them to achieve their goals. He is in the process of acquiring his ILM Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring certificate. He is also a member of the London Coaching Practice that provides coaching opportunities to LSBU staffs and coaching seminars to SMEs.

Washad’s PhD research is concerned with investigating the phenomenon leading to fluctuations in financial markets and how irrational behaviours cause financial instability.
