Todor Arabadzhiev received his MSc in Electronic Medical Equipment Engineering from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1998; and his PhD in Biophysics (current distribution in the muscle as a volume conductor) from The Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in 2005.
He has two post-doctoral fellowships - in University of Colorado, USA and in Polytechnics of Turin, Italy. He has published 18 research papers in recognized scientific journals. His main expertise and research interests are in the areas of signal processing, computer simulations and electromyography.
Todor's main research is focused on:
- Analysis of the electrical fields, generated around the active sources, during different phases of muscle fibre excitation
- Analysis of the influence of central and peripheral factors on EMG amplitude and frequency characteristics
- Analysis of methods to distinguish between normal, myopathic and neuropathic EMG
- Analysis and development of methods for non-invasive estimation of muscle fibre propagation velocity, Intracellular Action Potential, muscle fatigue and motor unit activity
