Peter Keane qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer at Guy's Hospital in 1981 and worked as a Diagnostic Radiographer / Senior Radiographer in a variety of Teaching and District General Hospitals including Guy's, The Royal Free and The Middlesex Hospital. After qualifying as a Medical Sonographer in 1985, Peter specialised in Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound, before returning to Guy's Hospital as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in 1990. When Radiography education transferred from Guy's Hospital into London South Bank University in 1992, Peter came to London South Bank where he has worked ever since.

Peter is the module leader for the module entitled Additional Modalities, which examines a variety of imaging modalities including Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography and Ultrasound. Peter also leads a postgraduate module entitled Ultrasound Science and technology and teaches the scientific principles and clinical applications of ultrasound on a variety of other university programmes.

Peter is the year tutor for the second year (Level 6) Diagnostic Radiography students and is the Health and Safety representative for the Department for Allied Health Sciences.

Previously, Peter has served as an External Examiner for the Masters Degree programmes in Clinical Ultrasound at Lancaster University, Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen) and The University of Derby. He is currently the External Examiner for the Masters Degree programme in Clinical Ultrasound at Bournemouth University.

He has also served as the Clinical Liaison Lecturer to Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust, The Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and Lewisham University Hospital. He is currently the Clinical Liaison Lecturer to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich.
