Dr May Tungtakanpoung is a lecturer in Human Resource Management in the Management, Marketing and People division. She  specializes in  cross-cultural management and intercultural competence. She gained her MA in  Human Resource Management from Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne and PhD from London Metropolitan University.

Dr Tungtakanpoung's research interests are in the field of International Management, International HRM, Management & Spirituality, Gender & Management, and Airline Management.

Her current research looks into how cultural distinctiveness and cultural characteristics may serve as a strategic resource for organisations. This includes the interactions of people across cultures. She has been selected to participate in the Master Class for Global Cross Cultural Management (GCCM) in 2011 and 2016 provided by Prof. Hofstede and the team at Maastrich University. This will enable her to develop cross-cultural management research in the future.

Dr Tungtakanpoung is a module leader for Intercultural Management which covers national culture, organisational culture, global leadership, international business negotiation, cultural intelligence. inter-cultural competence and ethics. The module is for students to develop a global mindset in a global market.

Dr Tungtakanpoung's research interests are in the following areas:

The knowledge of Eastern Philosophy and it's application in Western practice. The link between positive approach and the practical level within the organisation.

How cultural distinctiveness and cultural characteristics may serve as a strategic resource for organisations which include the interactions of people across cultures.

Member of the Research Institute of the Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA).

Member of British Academy of Management (BAM)
