LSBU’s Nathu Puri Institute recognised for innovation
London South Bank University's Nathu Puri Institute for Engineering and Enterprise has been awarded accreditation by the Institute of Innovation and KnowledgeThe Nathu Puri Institute (NPI) for Engineering and Enterprise, which sits within the School of Engineering at London South Bank University (LSBU), has been awarded accreditation by the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IKE).
The award, for demonstrating innovation, was given on 4 November 2016 and covers the next 12 months followed by a possible three year extension, subject to the NPI meeting renewal conditions.
The judging panel examined the way in which innovative capability, skills and associated competencies are developed and embedded into NPI activities at LSBU, primarily within the School of Engineering and the School of The Built Environment and Architecture.
The panel examined the level of innovation with respect to the way NPI’s programmes and related innovative interventions were designed, structured and delivered against the IKE Accreditation standards criteria. The judging panel also assessed the impact of NPI’s activities on students, employers and external partner organisations.
Commenting on his School’s award from IKE, Prof. David Mba, Dean of the School of Engineering at LSBU, said:
“This award represents a significant boost for NPI and for our School of Engineering, because IKE accreditation is used right across the higher education sector to demonstrate the value and relevance of applying innovative skills within their courses and programmes.
"Achieving this accreditation means that our learners, staff, and external partners we work with will be assured of the NPI’s ability to deliver innovation and enterprise education that meets their needs and expectations.”
Dr Ai Lin Liu, Acting Director of NPI, said: “I would like to thank all staff who have been involved in this achievement and who worked very hard on NPI’s activities and the accreditation process. I look forward to working together to deliver future success for the Institute.”
