06 November 2018

Professor Simon Philbin, Director of the NPI at LSBU, has received the Fellow award from the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM).  The award is given annually to those who have demonstrated significant engineering management accomplishments as well as continuing distinguished service and contributions to the Society.

Simon has previously carried out research in the field of engineering management, finding out how to manage complex technical projects and investigating how universities and industrial companies collaborate on scientific programmes. Commenting on his research, he said:

“I firmly believe that the subject of engineering management has much to offer those working in knowledge-driven and engineering organisations across a range of industries – it has certainly given me plenty of tools and techniques to navigate challenges and deliver complex initiatives over recent years.”

Simon was presented the award at the ASEM International Annual Conference, recently held in Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, USA. He has also become President Elect of ASEM and will be serving as President of the Society from 2019 to 2020.
