LSBU nominated for university entrepreneurship award in Lloyds Bank National Business Awards
London South Bank University is a finalist for the Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship in the 2015 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards
London South Bank University (LSBU) has been shortlisted for the Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship in the 2015 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards. The Award recognises the university in the UK that most encourages and supports entrepreneurship.
The Award criteria include the level and quality of enterprise societies, use of alumni entrepreneurs, small business internships and the level of start-up support provided to students and alumni.
“We’re delighted to be recognised for the entrepreneurial support we provide students and graduates, whether that’s within our curricula or through our start-up programmes and workshops. This nomination is further testament to the drive our students and graduates have to achieve their entrepreneurial potential,” said Linsey Cole, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute at LSBU.
Over the last academic year, approximately 4,500 LSBU students and graduates have engaged in enterprise-related activities, including starting or growing their own businesses.
“At LSBU, we are committed to providing our students and graduates with entrepreneurial skills and real-world experience, and supporting them to seize new opportunities that will propel them to success,” said Professor Shân Wareing, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience at LSBU.
Delegates from LSBU will prepare a live presentation to expert judges who will announce the winning university at the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards gala dinner on 10 November at Park Lane’s Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Tom Broughton, Programme Director of the National Business Awards, said: “The quality and range of this year’s entries exceed even those of last year, which is no mean feat. The draw of being involved with the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards has seen companies from all kinds of industries submit applications, which have been narrowed down using our thorough and comprehensive scoring system.”
