LSBU nominated for prestigious finance award

LSBU's finance team has received an award nomination from judges of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2015
20 April 2015

London South Bank University (LSBU) has been shortlisted for the 2015 Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs) in the category of 'Outstanding Finance Team'.

The THELMAs celebrate examples of successful innovation, teamwork and enterprise at UK higher education institutions and highlight leading instances of best practice.

The 'Outstanding Finance Team' category for which LSBU has been nominated recognises exceptional work in a university finance department and covers projects, initiatives and endeavours implemented in the last academic year. The judges looked at evidence of the overall impact of LSBU's financial strategy on the institution, considering sustainability, communication of financial initiatives across the university and the encouragement of non-finance leaders and managers to share ownership of financial planning.

Richard Flatman, Chief Financial Officer at LSBU, commented: 'I'm delighted that the hard work of the LSBU finance team has been recognised with a nomination for a Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award. The award nomination is a reflection of professionalism and excellence across the team and underlines our strong response to the challenges of a new tuition fee regime and emerging marketplace in Higher Education. Our focus on financial sustainability, flexibility and resilience has enabled LSBU to take advantage of many development opportunities, whilst retaining capital to safeguard future investment that will allow us to continue to innovate, compete and succeed.'

The winners of the 2015 Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards will be announced on 18th June at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
