LSBU hosts the longest running student film festival and welcomes film-makers from around the country
13 April 2015

Over 100 budding film-makers will be showcasing their short films at the 11th annual Screentest: National Student Film Festival held at LSBU on April 17 and 18 – the longest running festival of its kind.

Screentest gives budding student film and documentary makers from around the country the chance to see their short films on the silver screen as they showcase their work to hundreds of visitors. The films will include a mix of genres including drama, sci-fi, horror and comedy.

Visitors will have the opportunity to not only watch films by emerging UK talent, but to attend a host of talks by film industry experts, and participate in interactive workshops.

There will also be an awards ceremony 'The National Student Film Awards' on Saturday April 18 to celebrate the best films in the festival.

Following a rigorous selection process six LSBU students have had their films accepted by a panel of experts to be screened at the festival. Festival Director Sophie Coates, who is studying Arts and Festival Management at LSBU, said: "We are extremely proud of the film submissions we have received this year, the creativity and quality of the films have by far exceeded our expectations.

"LSBU have supported Screentest for the last five years, paving the way for aspiring film-makers around the country. It is such an honour to give students who have the potential to make an impact in such a tough industry, a platform to showcase their work and also network with like-minded creators and industry experts."
